Frequently Asked Questions For Relief Veterinarians:

Question: As a relief veterinarian how does the service benefit me?

Response: Exposure to all area hospitals will maximize your potential to fill your availability schedule. You do not have multiple invoices to submit and are reliably paid at the end of the each month by VetSolutions. You set your own schedule.

Question: Can I use VetSolutions’ to support at clinics I already work with or is it only new ones?

Response: Both. If a contract is currently in place with a clinic, VetSolutions can propose a new agreement with the clinic or simply allow the original agreement to expire before providing service. The goal of the service is to be beneficial to both the Veterinarian and the clinic, so a new agreement should be a positive for both parties.

Question: If there are places that I don’t want to work is that OK?

Response: Yes, we will note special criteria on your availability calendar. If that clinic requires services and you are the only Veterinarian available we will ask if you wish to work but you are not obligated.

Question: How does the scheduling process work?

Response: You provide a monthly availability calendar that includes dates and times that you wish to work. We update the calendar when you become booked or make changes during the course of the month. Clinics phone or use the website to contact VetSolutions with a scheduling need. We refer to the composite availability calendar to see which veterinarians are available. If multiple veterinarians are available we will let the clinic make the choice. We will also contact each clinic around the first of each month to see if they have any needs that can be scheduled well in advance.

Question: How do I sign up?

Response: Submit standard information necessary for VetSolutions to file 1099 form. Provide proof of liability insurance and Tennessee Veterinary License. Provide resume that clinics can review if requested and provide a list of strengths (e.g. surgery, ultasound, etc).

Question: How do I get paid?

Response: You will submit to VetSolutions your hours worked and clinic that you provided service for on a weekly basis. VetSolutions will pay you at the end of each month for all hours worked. Taxes will not be withheld.

Question: What benefits do I get?

Response: VetSolutions does not offer benefits such as 401K or medical at this time. As the business grows this may be an option in the future. We will offer assistance in finding medical insurance and life insurance if needed.

Question: How do I get information about taxes?

Response: We are putting together a 1099 tax survival guide to give to each Veterinarian. We will provide assistance and try to answer questions if help is needed.

Question: What is a 1099 professional?

Response: 1099 actually refers to an IRS form covering payment to independent contractors. As the name implies you will actually be an independent service provider able to benefit from tax advantages not typically available to an employee of a company.
